I lost an ability to tie certain knots a few years ago.

That special knot I used only on my shorts when someone broke the right of way rules. After one stressful day of river sailing where I lost count of how may ROW conditions were in conflict I had a long internal discussion. Enforcing the Rules was taking the fun out of sailing. It took several "retraining sessions" to adjust my head and follow the types of guidelines Max describes below. Now I only work the big ones, like the time some Dip-Bleep pulled 2 kids on a tube about 100 feet off out bow. One of them fell off right in front of us just as we were getting ready to tack. It took a crash gybe get things back together.
