Like John I replaced my 4-108 with a Beta Marine, but a 50 hp BV2203. My Nordic 44 was underpowered with the 4-108 so I went bigger. I also had custom mounts done, along with remotely mounted fuel and oil filters, and a second alternator with a very aggressive belt ratio. The engine is slightly longer and a bit narrower than the 4-108. They also have a 43 hp version of the BV2203 based on the same block.

The custom engine mounts saved a huge amount of time on the engine swap - no engine bed changes. I did the swap myself, only hiring out the crane work.

That was 11 years and about 3100 engine hours ago and I am still happy with the choice. The only engine work needed so far was a raw water pump rebuild and new injectors.
