Singlehanding/short handing a Big Boat
In Response To: Big Boats ()

I've got lots of time on a friends mid 70s S&S Swan 44, a big and powerful boat. When not racing, using a 100% as a head sail changes everything vs. a genoa. And electric primaries, recently added, make a world of difference as well. The 100% won't really make to much of a difference in light air, as half the time I'm slowing down the boat as I get to my desired port so as not to get there in the dark. And a cruising asymmetrical with a sock will work great when reaching in light air.
