did something similar a couple of weeks ago on the way to St Michaels. I was rushing around, checked the fuel guage (which is in a hatch, requiring a head stand and a flashlight) the dial has hash marks but no F or E
So I check and COOL! little over 3/4 of a tank (can you see it coming yet???)
We run to Eagle Cove Friday night (about an hour), then Sat morning take a nice spinnaker run under the bay bridge. About 3 miles from Bloody Point the wind dies, on goes the engine. 20 minutes later....dies. In actuality we had a bit less than 1/4 of a tank.
"No biggy" says my lovely bride, "just fill it from the Jerry can and I'll help you bleed the injectors. It'll only take a minute"
"uhhh, I didn't fill the jerry can"
"what? you ALWAYS fill the jerry can"
"But we had 3/4 of a tank!!! I didn't bother"
*stunned silence*
Put down the EPIRB!!! I did have the dink and the curse 'n carry!!!! we were about 3 maybe 4 miles from Kentmore. I hop in and take off. Gayle turns back North to meet me.
3 HOURS LATER, yes 3 hours of that little buzz bomb before I got back. Gayle had made about 200 yds and was now super duper happy. Lucky she took pity when she saw I couldn't actually close my hand around the gas can after holding that damn engine for 3 hours. Did I mention it took 3 HOURS!!!
LMAO, we bailed out on St Mikes and went to the Rhodes to drink wine. Bought a new outboard last week!
Looks like you had another great trip.
