People phase out of sailing and a season like you just had surely accelerates that trend. I don't think there is a waiting list for moorings in my harbor, right now. We're an older boating population around here.
I saw a For Sale sign on a friends B40 this past week. By the price(200k-too much), he's not ready ready, but will be out of sailing in a season or two.
So it goes, we'll all be out, eventually. The above friend has also been encouraging us to join the local boat club. Every few years we re-consider joining the club in our harbor, but put it off. It's a nice little building on the harbor, we love it.
We'd get another dock to use for loading and unloading-a useful perk for our sailing(and it's rarely used). But that's about it, it's mostly a social club with friday barbeques, sunday barbecues, work day barbeques and a few other, barbeques.
That doesn't fit in our schedule,...yet. We're still waving goodbye or hello to the people at the club, coming and going from the harbor rowing by in our dinghy.
The clubs dues are cheap but we can't see ourselves there, yet.
Maybe one day. Me in Nantucket Red slacks, an Alden ball cap, a Gin and Tonic in one hand, a Spatula in the other,...waving goodbye to the sailboats,....
