However, since I have no kids, live 3,000 miles away from all of my relatives (I haven't seen or communicated any of them for 17 years and have no desire to change that) and have never had any close friends, I will stick with my statement. I get my fulfillment from lots of other things including boating, boat building and maintenance and a variety of intellectual pursuits. For example, a few years ago I spent several months learning what there is to know about propellers. It was a nice application of my existing knowledge of fluid dynamics. I used that knowledge to optimize the choice of engine, transmission ratio and propeller for my powerboat. It was quite satisfying to learn enough to write computer programs to do all the needed calculations to determine the best propeller match for my boat. It was also gratifying to have my theoretical treatment vindicated by the in the water results. Much more satisfying than interacting with my relatives.
