The majority of our club grounds is water, we winter store in what is actually the parking lot. The argument from some of the members (usually those in charge) is that hauling early takes up room in the parking lot that would be used by other members. In the real world, that argument has no merit. Come Labor Day, the kids go back to school, fall sports start for them, after school and weekend activities start, some members live as far south as Pittsburgh. Some are season ticket holders for the Steelers and Browns, hunting season opens on September 1st, etc and so forth. The traffic at the club drops off dramatically as do the events held there. In reality there is no reason we could not start hauling as early as the first weekend after Labor Day. However, tying to change the 5 week rule has never been able to be passed, it is always voted down by the Bridge and Board.
