. . . like Luther Blount, who had the shipyard in Warren, RI. (His brother had Blount Seafood, which sold the clams to Campbell Soup.) Luther could make just about anything from nothing. He built small cruise ships (and operated the line) to run up the Hudson and down the St. Lawrence Seaway. The wheelhouses lowered hydraulically to clear the bridges in the canal system. He invented the "Pint-a-Flush" toilet to go in the ships. He formed curved steel plates inside water-filled concrete molds, using explosives to create shockwaves to bend the metal.
