I recently helped sail a boat from Maine to Florida. Off the coast of Georgia there are eight towers that apparently the military had erected and are no longer used. These things are basically the same kind of structure you'd see for offshore drilling (well, at least to my untrained eye). They are scattered over a wide area between approximately 35 and 60 NM offshore. On the chart it says they are lighted. But I've also heard that they are not. We were transiting the area at night in rainy weather and the radar was malfunctioning.... pretty scary watch for me!

Does anyone know anything about these? Are they actually unlighted?
