This article in Penbay Pilot is the type of story we love up here on the coast of Maine. Some fishing boats always stay in the water. It saves money! Call it Yankee thrift. LaBoatIII is a perpetual sinker.

Not that unusual for working boats. Problem is the batteries that run the bilge pumps only last so long(ever see a solar panel on a lobsterboat?), and Rockport Harbor was frozen stiff on tuesday.

As luck would have it, the ice held sunken LaBoatIII like a travel lift, long enough for the owner and his stern man to drag a new battery out in the dinghy.

Our harbormaster stood by and took these photos. Abbey(harbormaster) had a throw line ready and if they were out of reach, she'd call 911 for the Fire department. You got a better idea?
