It looks worth a try. I've settled on this simple method on the boat.

Simple, nothing to maintain, no power requirements, can't break it. Best of all, it enhances what I enjoy about coffee - the process of brewing it. You have all the control with the amount of coffee, giving the grounds a rinse first(key step), the rate of filtering, the water temperature. It takes a knack to get it right. The filter and a couple seasons worth of filters(biodegradable) fit in a little cubby.

The only caveat-it only makes one cup at a time. That suits me as I'm usually the only coffee drinker onboard.
