Aside from plastic vs. Pyrex
In Response To: Isn't that just drip coffee? ()

The Milletta has a grooved cone vs. the Chemex's smooth one. The flow of coffee through the paper agaist the smooth glass, plus the continued heat of the pyrex vs. plastic, to the glass makes the ADMIRAL very much happier.

I think the flow of the coffee is different against the smooth glass. It definitely makes a difference to use a good paper filter vs. a "screen".

COFFEE MAKING HAS A LOT OF ZEN to it.

Clearly an old "percolator" is a lot different from the drip makers. Beyond that, the paper filters remove some acidity. The French presses don't do that.

(I of course am capable of drinking mud or cappacinos. At 4:00 in the morning on a dark and stormy, I really drink what ever is there. ;^)))
