He said it happened after he took his boat into fresh water. Years ago I called Interlux tech support and the support guy told me on the phone that you can't take it into fresh water, not even brackish water. He said it permanently deactivates the anti fouling properties.

I don't understand why they don't put that in bold warnings. Who wants a boat you can't take upriver?
