The temperature gauge is reading 230F. The oil gauge is reading high. I haven't seen the boat, it's a Nonesuch 30. My first thought is-false readings due to electrical connections, especially at spring launch time. I told him to check all connections first, both line and ground. Thinking both instruments may be on the same circuit and ground and some resistance may be giving 2 false readings.
Any other ideas for him to try before he gets into more involved trouble shooting?
