Got me thinking about the last time I first launched a new, old boat. It's opening a pandoras box.

A neighbor has a - new to him - boat at the docks. Symptom:
oil temp

I haven't seen the boat, only talked on the street.
Some oil pressure guages read when the resistance increases (result of heat); and others react the reverse way.
If it's a Volvo, you might look this over...
It's a Westerbeke. Funny thing, the temp and oil gauge stay maxed, with the key off.
I remember them from the early '80's
Having left my old 38'x11' low decked boat, going below the Nonesuch, was outrageous!

Troubleshoot with non-electrical gauges.
It could be a mismatch between senders and gauges.
He could also ask the PO for suggestion
