2-3 years? I don't even know what to say TD?
This took 6 weeks which for us is a really long time. Our record for selling a boat is less than 15 minutes. I was carrying the "for sale" sign down the dock and a couple bought the boat right then. Our last powerboat took an hour from when we gave the listing paperwork to the broker (He tells that story all the time). The Islander sold in 10 days, the same broker was getting irritated because once the listing went live on-line he spent most of his time answering emails, phone calls and showing our boat. He referred to himself as our "personal yacht broker". We try to buy them at the right price and also sell at an attractive price. I also spend time making sure the boat is ready to sell. They are clean inside and out, the majority, if not all, of our personal gear is off and stored at the house. The varnish is as perfect as I can get it, the lockers are clean and painted inside, well, you get the idea. This broker also insists on taking his own photos. The Islander photos looked like they came from the factory brochure. The IP photos were not as good but obviously were good enough.
All that said, he has boats on his lot that have been for sale for 5+ years. They look abandoned but are really late model 2005's and a 2008. The owners don't take care of them, won't pay to have them taken care of and insist on listing at absolute top dollar. We looked inside one and it was totally trashed with "stuff".
