We cruised the Pacific NW for years with sheltered anchorages and sticky mud with 50' chain and 250 ' line and a 33# bruce on our 34' heavy double ender. Only problem was once I found a round bowling ball rock that got scooped up in the bruce. Since leaving for Mexico 2 years ago with open roadstead anchorages we changed to a 55# rockna and 250' of 5/16 chain and a big electric windlass to haul it in. I now gently set the anchor because as everyone has said the new generation anchors set RIGHT NOW. Tom Evans SV Tappan Zee San Diego
