I'm talking about moorings set in more remote anchorages for the occasional use of the owners. What's the cost to us? Our right to anchor in that spot, open to all mariners, on a first come first serve basis. An ancient maratime custom.
In fact a destination mooring goes against all that is maratime custom. I feel a responsibility to fellow mariners, to help each other, to share and protect our resource. I'll move-adjust anchor to help accommodate a late arrival seeking a safe anchorage.
The destination mooring owner takes the spot for himself-permenantly, and takes away our right to anchor there.
