I may have to do that way. PT amazingly rot resistant, but it checks like crazy if not protected.

It's best coated with something to keep it somewhat dry and stable. I left these parts drying for over a year before coating. Then oil primer and quality latex overcoat. Next, I'll do the railing with Duration, Sherwin Williams best paint for longevity. I would have used plastic wood but no stock material was available to fit the design I wanted.
