My gut feeling is that wood moves too much for AwlGrip. My thinking is that AwlGrip is meant for composites and metals - not wood. If you've been happy with the Epiphanes in the past, I'd stick with that.
I'm currently redoing my radar mast which was getting a bit barked up - lots of nicks and dings after 15 years. Removing the old PreCoat/Brightsides was a bear - the stuff had really set up and was tough to get off the CF pole and epoxy/glass platform. I was toying with the idea of recoating with an epoxy primer and a 2 part urethane, but the Precoat/Brightsides is so much easier to work with - at least for me.
