Years ago he posted a essay about a special time sailing into Charleston Harbor on Christmas Eve and thinking of his Dad a WW2 vet who saw much and passed good things and values to Jon. I think that was the start of our friendship which consisted of occasional meetings in various ports, a few dinners and drinks and far to few emails and phone calls. He would tease me and point out the latest and greatest gizmo such as titanium nut drivers or anchor swivels ,and we would laugh. H knew they would be irresistible to me at least 50% of the time.
Jon was a special person to many of us. May he rest in peace.
