A card like this will get the HDMI into your computer. (I haven't bought one yet, they're $190.) The right software will edit/save it. Why put it on a DVD? Just save it to a flash or hard drive. Or just an SD chip - you can get a 32G chip these days for $11 - enough for 32 movies! Physical media is going away. I'm currently putting all our CDs onto hard drive. 100 done, 100 to go - hey, when you move into an apartment (or boat), space is critical.
