When I first entered the commercial/industrial electrical field in 1970 the only soldering was and still is accepted is for electronics never power. We did cad-weld ground wires together but since advances in hydraulic presses and gear no one cad-welds any more. A quality crimped wire will have no room for solder. Finding a quality crimper for large wire is an issue however.
