Few things are more humorous than watching a 'dad',...teach a handful of sons, on the docks.

ALOHA is Richards's(a dad) boat(he pays most of the bills), but it's actually owned by all the kids in the harbor. 24', not sure what she is..., negative $ value. Topsides painted in bottom paint("oops, wrong can, dad).

We dads of the kids that sail ALOHA, do our best to make sure she doesn't sink(a real fear with ALOHA). We insist on PFD's, but other than that,...in one ear and out the other.

Last season, good friend George was showing 'the boys' how to replace the port life line. 'The boys'(or girls, some related, - are all ours). All 20 somethings - stocked with beer and crackers - headed to the islands for a weekend party. All their smart phones charged(you never have to worry about that).

Richard(a none sailor but premium dad), had supplied the life line wire(he's all thumbs). I was on the docks nearby. George(a transatlantic-several times, sailor), was working with his Nicro press tool on ALOHA. With his booming voice, holding court on the docks,... George says sarcastically,...

"Now you guys pay attention,...", this brings little more than a chuckle from 'the boys'; they're connecting with friends on the island on their phones.

George is reeving the 'wire' through the stanchions when he cocks his head and squints at the white wire, "Hey, this is Coax TV cable,..." No big surprise on the docks.

I try to lure the boys over my way,... "Hey, you guys come on over here, I'll teach you something useful, like a Buntline Hitch". They don't even hear me. I don't expect them to, this is for George and I, we're enjoying our 'dad' humor.

So it goes, another season. ALOHA sails off with a cockpit full of happy kids. George(coil of Coax cable in hand) and I are satisfied. The 'boys' know their way on the water.

Here is ALOHA coming into Rockport Harbor last season. I figure we're the guardians, ALOHA is the teacher.
