I don't remember you mentioning the line had to run through a tube, but unless it has a fair lead you may want to switch back to wire rope. I have a rudder downhaul that goes through a tube, and it's also below water at the attachment (when the rudder is down). I switched out the wire for another because I was concerned about chafe. (Otherwise I would have used Dyneema.)
