That's pretty awesome. Sorry it's so late, as you're not going to be hitting the ideal weather for a leisurely sail south. If these NW winds continue to prevail it'll take you south in a hurry though. (Hope you equipped it with heat).
I took my boat east yesterday to it's winter home. It was a downwind run with steady 20's gusting to lower 40 knots. We flew only a double-reefed genoa and were doing 10+ much of the way even though my bottom hasn't been cleaned since Labor Day (and I have a prolific garden growing down there).
We stayed within a few miles from the windward shore, so didn't see more than about 5-foot waves. We haul out tomorrow.
