Except that the SMAD units use an electric heat source. It looks like they draw 5-6 amps when running. I bought a Dometic refrigerated cooler 4 years ago and have been very happy with it. It has a normal Danfoss compresser. My 40 qt unit draws about 3.5 amps when the compressor is on (5-8 minutes per hour after initial cool down) and can be run as a freezer if you want.
