Cruising Sailors Forum Archive

Any interest in making some small changes to increase traffic here?

Phil has some intriguing ideas. This board started instantly at the demise of the Cruising World forum. Today, we have a small core group(-10?) that post regularly, and the group appears to be diminishing.

It's been the board opinion that the format is what keeps the last few here. Phil has an upgrade that would keep the old style while connecting us to the main Sailboatowners.com central. And maybe a new 'look' with a name would bring in some new sailors. We'll still be more remote due to the format and program but we may gain some life with new input-posts, photos, sailors.

On other forums I visit, sailboats, are the main focus. Preparing for circumnavigations(that will never happen...)- and the horrendous weather the boats will never endure - is the main interest. Lately, living aboard is becoming more popular and what boats are best for housing, how best to 'remodel' them.

I'm of the opinion that the one thing that is missing on sailing web forums, is sailing. SBO has a good sail trim category(I lurk it regularly) and a more coastal sailboat group. But I think there is room for more of the sailing - the water, the places(home-far away), the people, cruising-coastal, coastal cruising. That's what the majority of sailors do.

Phil makes a good point-our name has an 'old salts only' rep. I'm afraid we're running out of 'olde' salts. But we do have a few sailors here that post.
