Or more accurately, my history of boat ownership. We typically turn our boats every four years, or as the admiral puts it, just about the time all the projects are done. So, to have a custom cover made does not make sense for a short term investment.

I would also like to add that our club does participate in the clean marina program. We recycle all shrink wrap every Spring, although this is storage #2 for this wrap job so I haven't recycled anything yet. By my records it was $130 for the film, $50 for two rolls of tape, $30 for strapping and $15 for my heat gun (if you don't count the $50 I was taken for). So that has worked out to $100 a year. If by chance I was thinking of long term ownership I totally agree that a permanent cover is the way to go. I actually looked into a custom cover made by Taylor, canvas duck was something like $700, Sunbrella was twice that. It has since been removed from their option list.
