I recall you posting once that you had a Volvo 2030 (same as mine), after I'd asked you about some aspect of the engine. Anyway, I've been having some hard-to-figure out overheating problem (can't get over 1900/2000 RPMs before overheating), and I wonder if you've ever had an overheating problem on your engine.
I ask only b/c an old friend once told me that the older Volvos are 'prone' to overheating, in his opinion...a very 'unscientific' assessment, and he didn't know why he had the overheating problems on his MD11, but he has tons of boat and engine experience. So, anyway, just curious if you've ever had to deal with overheating on your Volvo 2030. Just a shot in the dark attempt to figure out my problem! (I haven't gone through all the 'usual suspects' yet, just doing some preliminary troubleshooting for now.)
FYI, I have all VDO gauges/senders, having rebuilt a new engine control panel (didn't want the stock Volvo one). For now, I'm suspecting a faulty temp gauge (a makepoint switch that turns on the alarm is connected to the gauge, so if the gauge is reading high, then the overheat alarm is going off prematurely. But I don't know yet if this is the problem).
Thanks, Jud
