Is there a liveaboard insurance cost penalty
In Response To: Insurance cost / question ()

I wasn't aware that it cost more to insure a liveaboard boat than not.

In fact I can think of things where living aboard would reduce the risk of loss- sinking at the dock due to thruhull failure is one for sure. Theft and vandalism loss would be lower. Fire loss may be greater due to more time on board. All and all it sounds like a washup to me.

And I don't remember being asked when I filled out my last insurance application.

But follow others advice and tell the truth. I just don't think it will cost you anything. Even if it does, it will be a whole lot less than location factors.
