I need to run 12v, and a bunch of NMEA connections from my Nav station to my helm mounted GPS ( about 15 feet each way). Was wondering about using CAT5 cable to do this. Would that wire gauge be thick enough to supply the 12v to the GPS? I know it doesn't draw much current.
Also, does that supply wire need to be shielded? If so, Cat5 won't do!
