Yes...Soft rubber left to sit and soak in vinegar will swell and distort.

() Flush it through...it can't do anything to prevent buildup in the discharge hose if you leave it sitting in the bowl instead ...it has to go through the hose! Although white vinegar will dissolve mineral buildup, it should be used as preventive maintenance, not as a cure. So there shouldn't be any reason to leave it sitting in the discharge to dissolve buildup on the joker valve. Replace the joker valve--which you should do at least every two years, annually if you're live aboard anyway--instead.
