One of my favorite boatyards was sued by Puget Sound Keepers Alliance. This is despite the fact that the boatyard is doing its best to report test data and to modernize their containment systems. The government agencies actually give them a good rating for compliance. I phoned the Alliance about this but never got a phone call back. One wonders if they are in the business of raising money by lawsuits. I'm a real green goodie-goodie but this organization has not earned my support. If you want to support environmental education in the Seattle area, send money to Homewaters Project or to Island Wood. The former is merging with the latter. My wife has been a board member of Homewaters Project (formerly Thornton Creek Project) for years.
We have lots to do around Puget Sound to clean it up. Street runoff problems are huge. Fertilizer runoff is also a big problem. They have had some success restoring salmon runs in Carkeek Park a mile south of my place, but big storm runoff wipes out the spawning beds all too often.
