it got to be a PITA so when I cleaned the tanks in Mazatlan prior to this last bash up I marked a stick at each 5 gallons. I find it much more accurate and easy. I think on average I will be able to read it down to better then 2.5 gallons with a good degree of accuracy. I was pretty much nuts on during my fill up in Turtle bay. I missed it by a liter.
