Cruising Sailors Forum Archive

On our last morning, I remember thinking how much the world has changed.

While we swung at anchor peacefully the night before, our daughter on her laptop was talking to her boyfriend from college who was at that moment in Jerusalem on a work study program.

Yet while onshore that same day, I was thinking I could see much of the old Cutty Hunk still intact in what was preserved and even in what was new. While hiking the top, I remember looking into the thick underbrush along the way. It's still a wild place not too unlike it was when the first sailors came ashore here.

That final morning at about 3 am, I was awakened by a coyote on the shore just a hundred yards or so from the boat. I listened for some time to see if his calls were answered but I can't say they were. He could be alone, but I doubt it.
