We bought a two-way pump with integral reversing switch form West (about $80) and connected it to the sump drain.
Volvo did not give us a drain, so I drilled the sump and tapped it 1/2" NPT. Short heavy oil resistant hose out to the front of the engine and a ball valve, then up to the pump.
One detail trick. The pump discharges to a heavy 1/2" hose, UPWARDS, about a foot long. It sits there normally pointing up, or could be tied.
We warm up the engine, stick the hose in an old 5 litre can, and empty the engine in about 40 seconds. Sometimes put some clean oil in and pump again, to wash junk out.
If changing the filter, I drill a small vent hole in the top, and let it drain to the sump for an hour after pumping out the oil, then pump again. This reduces mess casue by Volvo's stupid positioning of the flter on the 2000 series.
Then stick the hose in a new 5 litre can of oil, and fill the engine, avoiding spilling if trying to pour into Volvo's poorly positioned hole, and having a messy funnel to clean up.
The beauty of the upward pointing discharge hose is that all drips go back in. I wipe the outside clean of oil with a paper towel, and run the pump inwards to empty the hose.
