... Tartan 40, have an ATN sock, all of our sailing is Bahamas, Florida-Bahamas crossings. Basically single handing, there's a wife and child on board, I think, they're along for the ride. So it won't fly when the wind gets over 14-15 true, and that's pushing it if reaching, when I'd rather have the genny up anyway, the pilot on, sailing flatter, and relaxed with a book in my hand. Anything over 10-12 with the A-sail reaching, I'm glued to the wheel and my wife is visibly disconcerted. I'll go 3/4 oz. I can't decide if I'll regret the All Purpose when I want deeper sailing angles, but who wants to go DDW. And will it really matter the more power I get and 1/8 knot of boat speed from the Runner ? Or if I get the Runner, I might find in lighter air I'd like to reach higher with the A-sail. I don't think I will want the A-sail up in moderate breeze when reaching, only light air. I guess the All-Purpose will give me more versatility, I probably won't be able to tell the difference in either, suspect the differences are negligible ... cost is the same.
Thanks for the comments / suggestions ... cheers, John
