Head issues and assumptions

I spent the weekend down at the boat doing various projects. I planned on investigating the head further so started there and found a puddle of pink antifreeze behind the head. I assume that means I have leaking seals. I also pulled of the 3/4" hose from the thru hull to the intake side of the head. Turns out that it was NOT filled with antifreeze or water, but.....well......waste water that has been sitting for several weeks. I assume that means I have other problems besides the smelly mess. I was going to pull the head out of the boat but also assume that the discharge hose might have another surprise for me, so I let it sit for now.

As I said before, we have a Groco HC. I can get an upgrade kit to turn this into the latest which is the HF, for about $110 (less from our host here at sailboatowners but they are out of stock right now), or I can get a master rebuild kit for the HC from Stephan at Defender for about $65. The other alterantive is to buy a new head?

I did manage to get a fair amount of varnishing done down below before driving myself off the boat with the fumes, but at least that covered up the other smalls..
