I mentioned it here a couple of years ago to one of Raymarine's top consultants, but I doubt anything was ever done about it... (grin)
what's really unbelievable, is there is no mention whatsoever of this possibility in the owner's manual... I mentioned it to one of Raymarine's reps at a boat show a few years ago, perhaps the new literature includes this caution, but I wouldn't count on it...
I like the remote, it comes in pretty handy sometimes, and I use it a lot... But I'm definitely in the habit of disabling it if I know I'm not gonna be using it for awhile - and the only way to do that is to open the back, and spring the batteries to turn it off... Unbelievably piss-poor design, as you've said...
