Jerry, the 640 is a good choice for the time being....yes it is nearing EOL (end of life). Garmin will probably replace with a newer version, close to the newest NUVI form factor, thinner and faster processor, maybe 4G enabled etc. but christ on a crutch how much more crap do we need to tell us where we are and where we're going!

I was driving down in the Boston area over the weekend, not something I usually do, but my wife had business there. I was nearly t-boned by some idiot at an intersection that was fukin' around with his gps in his car.....I actually saw him with one hand on the gps and one hand on the wheel not looking at the traffic light as I was crossing. People are such idiots, this guy actually lived about 5 miles away and when I asked him why the hell he was using a GPS when he drove that area everyday he looked at me like I was a lunatic.
