We almost like the dehumidifying benefit of the air conditioner more than the cooling. There are also times when it's just so darn hot in midday that we hold up in the aft cabin to watch a movie while the generator charges. Without the air, we would find it impossible to be below.
Most master staterooms are in the stern. There are times when we wish the main stateroom was at the bow. Being in the aft part of the boat it gets no breeze through the 24X24 hatch over the bed. If there is a bit of breeze, the v-berth always more comfortable. A friend of ours had a great aft stateroom but always slept in the forward cabin.
The heat and humidify is quite often not thought about in setting a vessel up for cruising the tropics. We find so many cruisers that grab a window air conditioner anywhere they can and install it on deck to make life bearable. Much better to address the problem correctly before you head south.
