though of course it might not help while you are sailing: making leeway and the keel producing lift and downwash could suck a buoy through between keel and rudder, now its going to be trapped by the spectra line. It would be pretty easy to try, I can make a couple of G10 padeyes and glue them to the keel and rudder. I noticed that some of the lobster boats have cages around their props, serves them right for soiling their own nest.
I have a hookah type dive rig on board. Bought it after trying one in Hawaii, and after diving on the prop up in the North Channel of Georgian Bay. It is a long way under on my boat to get to the prop - saildrive is well forward of the rudder - and I discovered that at my advanced age by the time I got there I had about 12 seconds of air left to work on anything. With the deck mounted 12V hookah rig, something might actually be accomplished. But by the time I got to Maine, I still hadn't gotten a wetsuit or weight belt, the water was cold, and there was no way to get back on board....
