I'd need to go into the water to use a hook knife

As you can see, my prop is deep and well forward from the stern. I wrote 4-5 feet above, but it probably is more like 5 or 6. (That's why we need the bow thruster).

BTW I have owned that grab and go hook for at least 6 or 7 years, and never used it until this summer when I used it just once. We returned from a 2-week vacation cruise and found our mooring pennant had become badly entangled while we were gone, so I used it to hook into the top shackle until we could launch the dinghy and sort it out. We don't see a use for it on guest moorings because around here they all have pennants attached, and if we're not on a paid mooring we anchor. It's a nice arrow to have in the quiver, so to speak, and doesn't take any extra storage space.
