I have never found an LED that has a pleasing color temperature

We've tried. Their getting better but LED's have a terrible color spectrum. Holes and missing colors all over the place. Nighttime on a vessel calls for a good full spectrum light source for general purpose lighting. All creatures on the face of the Earth have evolved under the light of the Sun. Anything different is playing around with the way your brain interprets colors. It's like all those kitchens with florescent lighting. Terrible !! The food looks awful (even with Warm White Deluxe)

Keep a few incandescent lights around. A 3 or even 5 watt Halogen bulb doesn't use that much energy, puts out a lot of light and the boat looks sexy at night.

An led makes your boat look like a K-mart. You may think the color is good but your brain knows the difference.
