is to start from Sandy Hook/Raritan Bay at dawn and stop at Atlantic City (the State Marina at Trump Palace is a decent spot, easy access and well protected) and then the next day can be from AC to the C&D Canal. Delaware Bay is forever and with the current and shoals can be a bit nasty at times -- you lose most of a day there.
Weather permitting, you could save a day by going outside the Delmarva Peninsula. I've done some chart planning and it looks like Ocean City Maryland might be a good stop in fair weather. You could go from Atlantic City to Ocean City in one day, and from there to Norfolk it's 120 nm which might be do-able in one day if you start before dawn (20 hours at 6 knots or 17 hours at 7 knots). You could even go from Cape May to Norfolk in one overnight -- it's about 156 nm or 22 hours at 7 knots average (26 hours at 6 knots). Even shorter if you could anchor in Willoughby Bay or Hampton area (north or south of Hampton Roads. (Note on the charts says Willoughby Bay is restricted -- anyone know if you can anchor there?)
