Never stopped there but I understand that Barneget Inlet can close out or at least be really dicey without warning and it's really shallow at low tide. If that happens you're kind of screwed. By then it's getting late and you're committed to continuing south. By the time you reach AC you're making an approach after dark. AC isn't the best place to come in after dark with all those shoals so you continue. You can't easily stop in Cape May (another weird entrance after dark) and you continue into the Delaware Bay. Now you've got to spend two nights, you're approaching the D&C Canal, it's getting dark again and the entire plan on making a day passage is screwed up and you're looking for a place to park.
For me, it's easier to bite the bullet and take the safer route down the Jersey shore. Make the overnight.
I do understand about the mother thing. You have to stop. No question about it.
