Split pin shouldn't take load?
In Response To: Further, Charlie ()

I had to check my definitions to be sure:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clevis_pin

The clevis pin joins the turnbuckle or toggle and the chainplate. It does take a load.

Toss's point was the load concentration. Seems that could lead to fatigue and cracking of either pin or chainplate. Typically though, chainplates are sized way fat for the loads. But I'm neither engineer nor rigger.
