They're fast on a reach but I still say they don't point very well

the Scheel keel isn't very efficient upwind. It's short and broad in cross-section. A deep fin such as a J24 is much better at pointing high. However the Shark has a very narrow hull for its length and once powered-up they go very nicely. I used to love my Shark, but I hated the maintenance on the cast iron keel in salt water... a major PITA.
