Had that happen on my Tartan 30. Filling the tank, and the sniffer screamed. At first I thought is was a hole in the tank, but then the hose crumbled in my hand. It's a bit of a stretch, but I guess you could consider the hose to be a long gasket, keeping fuel and vapors out of the boat.
